This Could Be On Broadway!

Created by The Tin Can Brothers

"This Could Be On Broadway" is a new stage musical about a group of high school students mounting their spring musical and the shenanigans that ensue. From callbacks to the cast party, the stage is a battleground where egos flare, showmances rage, and the only option is to option up. From the minds of Lauren Lopez, Clark Baxtresser, Brian Rosenthal, Corey Lubowich, & Joey Richter

🎭🎶🗽 We Need Your Help to Get to Broadway!
3 months ago – Fri, Feb 09, 2024 at 11:01:06 AM

Hi! Thanks again for bringing This Could Be on Broadway to life.

As a supporter of the first TCBoB Workshop, we wanted to fill you in on our plan to take This Could Be on Broadway to NYC this fall, with a concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below! This is a big deal for us in the developmental process, as we work towards eventually producing a fully staged version of the show. We’ll be joined by Bryce Charles, Esther Fallick, Lauren Lopez, Brian Rosenthal, Joey Richter, and Clark Baxtresser (from the 2021 workshop). Additionally, we'll be bringing in New York theater performers to fill out the rest of the cast. We love this show so much and are beyond excited to revisit these characters and tunes again!

In case you haven’t heard, 2024 is the 10 Year Anniversary of Tin Can Bros! It’s hard to believe that our first lil’ Kickstarter to fund some YouTube sketches was way back in 2014. To celebrate a divine decade of TCB, we’ve planned a season of 7 different projects ranging from remounts of classic TCB shows to a new queer sci-fi pilot reading to a brand new musical comedy. Over the next 18 months, we’re aiming to host events in Los Angeles, New York City, Edinburgh, London, and Adelaide.

But in order to make this season a reality, we need your help! Our Tinlightenment World Tour fundraising campaign (that’s what we’re calling it!) is the most ambitious Kickstarter we’ve ever attempted. We’re relying on TCB followers old and new to help us meet our goal and bring these projects to life. Every donation moves the needle closer to success. Can we count on you to pledge?

Appreciate you!

🎁 🔎 A Brand New Solve It Squad Musical Mystery from TCB...!
almost 2 years ago – Fri, May 27, 2022 at 01:40:22 AM

As Hal Prince once said, "When the curtain falls on one musical, it is sure to rise on another!" He famously said that....and who are WE to turn down this expert advice from one of musical theatre's most prolific directors 🙃

We're back with a brand new holiday musical adventure featuring Mayberry's most famous former kid detective gang, The Solve It! Squad. The show is called How the Grunch Cribbed Christmas! (get it?) and features the original cast of the LA & Off-Broadway Solve It Squad play: Joey Richter, Lauren Lopez, Gabe Greenspan, Ashley Clements, & Brian Rosenthal. We'll also be casting new performers and special guests to fill out the world of Mayberry's 1st Annual Holly Jolly Toy Drive and Nondenominational Winter Pageant Slash Variety Show! The show features an original musical score from composer Nick Gage (Second City, StarKid).

If we reach our fundraising goal, the show will be performed live over one weekend this November 2022 in Los Angeles, CA (with Digital Tickets available this holiday season).

Check out the fundraising page HERE!

Thank you for your support and watch out for that Grunch!! 😱

The Show is Done, Let's Have Some Fun...The Cast Album is Out NOW!! 🎧 🎶 😉
about 2 years ago – Sat, Apr 23, 2022 at 06:41:22 PM

Hello friends,

We're just checking in to let you know that the This Could Be On Broadway Workshop Cast Recording is available now! This, of course, was made possible by your generous support in helping us reach our Cast Album stretch goal during the campaign😍

💿CHECK IT OUT HERE >>> http://tincanbros.com/tcbob-album

🗣 We talked a little bit about the album recording process in a previous update, but in review: this January, the entire cast went into the studio to record vocals with our sound engineer, Matt Dahan (a name many of you will recognize). Since then, Clark has been hard at work putting together the vocals and recording & arranging 22 brand new instrumental tracks to give us a more full, polished version of these songs (which we hope you've already grown to love😊 ). Most recently, the tracks were mixed and mastered by the brilliant Tomek Miernowski (another frequent collaborator). With 10 performers recording their parts individually to adhere to covid safety procedures, melding everything together into a cohesive ensemble sound was no easy feat, but we think it turned out splendidly!

🚨 💿 A quick note: Album sales in the first week of release (4/22 - 4/29) are important to independent musical projects like TCBOB because it's when we have the best chance of charting. Being able to point to our cast recording on a music chart is a very helpful tool for pitching This Could Be On Broadway to producers/theaters, down the line. So, if you are planning on grabbing the album (and are fiscally able), we ask that you do so in this first week of it being on sale (either on iTunes or the TCB store). As always, your assistance in helping spread the word on social media and by word of mouth to those you think may dig our work is invaluable🙏

Thanks for your support! Let us know what you think of the album in the comments below!

Best,

TCB

P.S. If you don't use iTunes, you can get the album from our store where there are instructions to add to your Spotify library!

🎁 🥪 🏁 That's A Wrap!!...So, What's Next??🔮

 **Final Piano Note Plays**

**Pause**

Thank you to everyone who came out last weekend and made the Livestream Event 🎥  & TCBOB Cast Party 🎊 such a success!!! It was an absolute joy to share the story, songs, and characters of Mountain Valley Theatre Guild with you (as well as the immense talent of our workshop cast 🤩).

If you missed the livestream or think someone you know would dig the TCBOB staged concert reading, digital tickets are now available at tincanbros.com/tickets until April 4. After that, they will take their final bow 👋. We would certainly appreciate your help getting the word out over the next few weeks! 🗣

We are eternally grateful for your support and hope you enjoyed the musical theatre themed tiers for this project as much as we did! Kickstarter backers, you are always welcome to message us through the Kickstarter portal if you have any questions.

STRETCH GOALS

Like Jean, MVTG's dance prodigy, these goals have been in ballet class since they were little, that's why they're so flexible 🤣 (that was a joke about "stretching" 🤸🏻‍♂️). Before the ghost light takes the stage, there's a little bit more TCBOB fun in store! Look out for more information about the upcoming This Could Be On Broadway Workshop Cast Album 📀 and DadCam™️ & Mommentary™️ 📹 soon on @tincanbros social media channels!

SO...WHAT'S NEXT??

Even though this is the end of the first ever This Could be On Broadway workshop, we are just at the beginning of this new musical development process! The ability to independently put together a staged concert reading at this scale has given us, as Maria once said, "A very good place to start." From here, we'll be using the materials generated from this process (video, album, feedback, etc.) to pitch the show out to partners such as producers and theaters that can help us reach our eventual goal of mounting a full production of TCBOB.  🎶How long will that take? When will we hear? BEHOLD....🎶 ...We don't know yet. (Angel of Death 1 - By Clark Baxtresser 😈). We may have to do several more workshops before then. We may get lucky and find a producing partner quickly. Regardless of how things progress, we want you to know that we are committed to TCBOB and confident it will have a bright future (Maybe...Broadway...😏🥂🥸).

In the meantime, the creative team will be hard at work taking what we learned from this initial rehearsal process and improving the show. The opportunity to work with our cast to flesh out and better understand each of these characters has been invaluable.  Next steps creatively include: re-writes, new songs, and maybe even reimagining entire sequences. As we've talked about in previous updates and throughout the Kickstarter campaign, this is a work in progress and we welcome the chance to continue molding and shaping this angsty, horny, musical lump of clay.

That's it for now folks! Thank you again for your generous support and for believing in the magic of theatre🎭✨.

Cheers,

Brian, Joey, Corey, Lauren, & Clark
